8 Months to a Better Me: Week 21

Death by Cake

This post will be really short. I weighed in at 125 pounds this morning, but I'm okay with that. It was a really busy week full of cleaning house and lots of birthday celebrating as our baby turned 1. Derek has been home since Thursday, so we've kind of been really bad with eating, so I wasn't surprised at all that I gained weight. The wind has been terrible this week too and just keeps getting worse, so we didn't go on nearly as many walks as normal. I also had way too many bad drinks this week, but starting today, I'm back to only having coffee and pepsi on Saturday and Sunday.

Before...After

The second shot isn't very good, but it shows more than the lighter shots did. The first picture was taken 4.5 months ago and the second picture was taken two weeks ago.

8 Months to a Better Me: Week 20

Well I knew I did well last week, but really wasn't expecting the scale to be that exciting this morning. However, I now only have 3.5 pounds to go to my September 15 goal. I was 123.5 this morning! Looking back though, I was incredibly good with eating and had very little dessert and only had one bad drink this weekend. I know that was because we ran out of Pepsi yesterday so I let Derek have the last one, but still, it's a good thing. I've decided to stop drinking the carmel mochas though. The lack of caffeine during the regular week and then the huge dose on Saturday really did me in. So, I'll stick with caffeine free drinks or just drink Pepsi during the weekends instead since that has far less caffeine. Here's my recap:

Monday: Zumba Cardio for 20 minutes and 2 mile walk
Tuesday: Two 2 mile walks
Wednesday: 2 mile walk
Thursday: 2 mile walk
Friday: 2 mile walk
Saturday: 2 mile walk
Sunday: 2 mile walk
(Crazy that I walked 16 miles last week!)
100 squats 6x last week
Drank average of 48oz water each day

I don't think I've worked out each day since I first started doing this. We have had such amazing weather though, that it would just be a waste of a day not to get out and enjoy it. Derek jogs on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; so on those days I'm planning on doing my other workouts like the Zumba and Yoga/toning exercises since we walk while he jogs in the evening. Then I'll still walk on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This coming weekend I'm going to a baby shower and then we'll have Lexi's party, but I don't think that'll throw me too far off track.

Next time we go shopping, probably sometime this week, we're going to be starting a new diet called Nutritionist Pro. We'll be doing more protein for breakfast, or at least Derek will since I'd prefer cereal or a breakfast shake over eggs, then carbohydrates for lunch with a sandwich, then chicken for dinner during the weekdays and beef during the weekends. We'll have two or three small snacks a day, like protein bars, fruits and vegetables. We think this will help us stay healthy too and Lexi will be able to eat those things with us for the most past. We'll see what I have to report next week.

8 Months to a Better Me: Week 19

This picture makes me smile

I'm behind this week. It's been a busy few days and I just didn't feel like posting. Not like anyone reads them anyway, so I figured I'd just do it on my own time for my own enjoyment :) This week I weighed in at 125.5 baby! I was shocked and not so shocked at the same time. I've done a lot of workouts this week, but my father-in-law made Dutch oven cherry cobbler and Derek didn't want any, so I ate it all. Of course, I ate it over the course of a week, but that's a lot more dessert than I've been having. Even though I didn't have any bad drinks until the weekend, I had way too many haha. On Saturday Derek brought me a carmel mocha from McDonalds and then two hours later I went to coffee with a friend and had a huge vanilla latte from Startucks, I felt that later. Then, Saturday I had a Pepsi. I don't regret them though, they all tasted great! And earlier, I had weighed 127.5, but Derek and I both think the scale was off because he weighed 2 pounds more too and then yesterday morning we were both down 2 and we feel we've done enough workouts that the lower one is correct. So, here's my recap:

Monday: Zumba Cardio for 25 minutes and a 2 mile walk
Tuesday: No exercise (had to take my friend to the hospital in Evanston and we were there most of the day)
Wednesday: 2 mile walk and 1.5 mile walk
Thursday: 2 mile walk and another 2 mile walk (I've been taking Lexi in the morning and then we go with Derek in the evening)
Friday: 2 mile walk
Saturday: No exercise
Sunday: 2 mile walk
100 squats 6x last week
Drank average of 35oz liquid each day

8 Months to a Better Me: Week 18

And happy Monday once again! Last week was pretty good, didn't feel like I over ate, didn't have any drinks other than water, milk and juice until the weekend, and took lots of 2 mile walks in the morning with Lexi before the wind picked up. Despite consuming massive calories on Saturday (huge horse racing ran here so Diana and I went to Apple Bee's and had appetizers, dessert, and drinks), I weighed in at 126 this morning! Woot woot! I'm so happy with myself lol. Only 6 more to go for the wedding!! Here's a look at the week:

Monday: No exercise
Tuesday: Tread climber, 45 minutes, walked 1.53 miles, burned 306 calories
Wednesday: 2 mile walk
Thursday: 2 mile walk
Friday: 2 mile walk
Saturday: No exercise
Sunday: 2 mile walk
100 squats all 7 days
Drank an average of 33oz liquid each day

My goal for this week is to just keep going, eat fewer sweets, and maybe make it to 125.5 next Monday!

Next Stop: Preakness

Well, my horse definitely did not win. In fact, he came in 16th place out of a 20 horse field. But Diana and I had a blast watching at Apple Bee's eating mozzarella sticks, chili nachos, maple blondie bars, and drinking margaritas/Jamaican Freezes (she had the margarita, I had the Freeze). Nobody was really paying attention to the TV, we asked the greeter to put us at a table closest to a Derby TV, except us it seemed, but as soon as the race started, everyone was cheering and screaming, it was awesome. I thought Bodemeister would do well, but was hoping he wouldn't win, mainly because I do not like Bob Baffert his trainer...so arrogant. He was right out front until the end and then, even though he didn't stop, he didn't have any more strength to give and had the race been even a few furlongs longer, he probably would have been more like 3rd or 4th place. I'll Have Another stormed on past to victory and it was a fun race to watch. I was correct on the 2nd, 5th, 10th, 18th and last place horses. Good thing I didn't bet haha. Looking forward to the Preakness in two weeks.

I've always been a huge Kentucky Derby fan. Looking forward to tomorrow's Run for the Roses race! Here's my predicted list. It'll be interesting to see how close or off I am. Going to Apple Bee's with Diana to watch it and have a fun dessert time.
