We got there around 11 and went to Sugar House Park, a favorite of ours, and walked around for about an hour. Then we headed to Red Lobster and had the crab linguine alfredo. YUM!
After that, we went window shopping at Pet Smart. We saw the cutest split-faced calico kittens! Derek told me we couldn't bring one home haha. Well, that's good because I think we'd regret 3 cats, 2 is plenty. It was so much fun walking around there though. We saw some cute birds and Guinea pigs (decided we'll probably get Lexi one when she's a bit older) and admired someone's Doberman puppy. Then we headed to Best Buy. Looked at the new Mac computers, Derek thinks I'd like one better than a PC, so we had fun playing around on it. Then we looked at cameras and all the other fun stuff Best Buy has to offer.
We got out to the Jeep and Derek said his main thing planned was to look at new cars (not to buy, just to get a feel of what we really wanted in a few months), but he didn't want me to get irritated with the salesmen. I told him I'd love to go look, so off we went to find a Hyundai dealer. Of course, it took about half a second before the salesman came our way. He first introduced himself and then said "I saw what you drove in with, let's see what you're driving out with". We originally wanted to get the Veracruz, but after looking at them, decided that 3 rows in a vehicle the size of the Jeep just isn't practical. It was so crammed and the back of the vehicle had horrible blind spots, something we were trying to avoid this time. So, we test drove the Santa Fe instead and really liked it! It had everything we wanted. But, since we had already decided to wait a while, we told him we were going to dinner to talk it over. He took our cell numbers and gave us his, then took the VIN number off the Jeep so he could crunch some numbers. And off we went.
We went to another little park to walk around and then headed to Buca's! There we had the fresh garlic bread (it actually has garlic chunks on it) and the cheese zitti and I had a purple pear cream soda (mmmm). When we were done eating, Derek called the salesman back and thanked him for all his help and time, but we had decided to wait until we could have a sizable down payment. Well, he told Derek this was during the time they had a $5000 rebate going on AND, he could give us $3200 for the Jeep today! That's only $800 less than the very most we thought we could get for it, in great condition. The Jeep that day was in fair: it had a starting problem, a dent in the front bumper, a leak in the front tire, rust spots, the driver side door was peeling, AND it had 122k miles on it. So he asked Derek what we were comfortable paying a month. Derek gave him a number and he said he would call us back in 5 minutes. Derek and I decided if he couldn't get it under x amount, we would just walk away and come back down next Spring. We really didn't think he could do it for us. He called back and the number was $3 under what we decided!!! And back to the dealership we went. We both really liked the Pacific Blue Pearl color, but all they had on their lot was silver, dark gray and black. We thought the gray or black would be okay, but upon seeing them, decided we wanted the blue one. And the only blue one on their lot was a 4 cylinder, we didn't want that one. They said they could have the blue one this week, but it was still at the rail yard. It also happens to be the only one in that color that has what we want in the entire district and is unique to 3 states! A few hours later, we had made the deal, complete with getting a clear bra coating on the front (this prevents rocks from chipping the pretty paint) and a 10-year/100k mile warranty on everything, not just the power-train warranty!! So this Saturday, we're going to pick it up. It has beige interior leather, navigation system, back-up camera, sun roof, 6 disc CD changer, all the iPod hookups, blue tooth that we can control from the steering wheel and it's voice activated and it only has 25 miles on it! Nobody has ever driven our new vehicle! Needless to say, I'm having a hard time waiting for Saturday. We were so impressed with the dealership too. They never once asked what we did for a living until we told them we were from Rock Springs and he asked what there was for work up there. Never asked what we made a year. He just gave us the keys and told us to take it for a spin, but he didn't demand to go with us. When he found out it was our anniversary, he got so excited to be able to help us celebrate with the new car, and he gave us a new Tuscon to drive home in because he didn't want us to drive the Jeep back. I mean, talk about amazing service! So that was my anniversary! And Lexi and Diana had a great day and she was an angel Diana said :)
